I'm Goin' to Texas Ma!
Lately, I've been bouncing back n forth across the country, usually between Santa Barbara and Plymouth. However, tomorrow I am excited to announce that I will be visiting a far away state that is NOT California. Hooray! (no offense to californians, I am just pleased to interject some variety)
I am pleased to announce that I will be attending SXSW interactive in Austin Texas. Ryan has been attending for many years in a row now and this year I finally get to go meet all these friends I've been hearing about for years. I'm especially excited for a lot of reasons. I'll get to go hang out in some nice warm Texan weather, Learn some webby stuff, lay eyes on people I only read about on the internet, and of course... lots of parties and playtime. Ryan always said it "feels like camp" and that sounds good to me.
In other news: Crash???? WTF?
I'm still in denial that Brokeback Mountain and Heath Ledger didn't win. However, Phillip S. Hoffman is completely amazing and totally deserves it for that role and dozens of others he always nails. I remember leaving the theater after watching Crash and thinking to myself... "well, that was kinda good... at times moving... but ultimately didn't live up to the hype... AND... boy it was just "so LA" yeeesh!"
I don't think I've ever been so disappointed by a choice for best picture as this one. Granted I've only cared about the outcome of the oscars for the last 15 years or so. I guess I'll go rent it and see if I still think it is mediocre. Also, I recall being pissy about the title choice from the beginning because of that other movie “crash”. David Cronenberg's Crash, starring James Spader, Holly Hunter, Elias Koteas, Deborah Unger, and Rosanna Arquette. While not exactly oscar material, the 1996 Crash really owned that title for me.
On to laundry, cleaning, coffee, post office and packing.
